Some of the Animals in my Neighborhood

These are some of the animals in my neighborhood. There are several street dogs (that's hunden op straat in Dutch, if you must know); most are tawny brown and of medium build. One is always found sleeping in the same spot on the sidewalk in the morning, and is therefore not a total drifter though he is at complete liberty. None are very skinny and must find plenty of street food refuse to eat.

There are also four donkeys, and I love donkeys. I don't know if they have jobs or not, but are often witnessed standing about on the sidewalk. The little one resolutely stood in the road a few days ago, but seemed unbothered by the constant traffic going by. I would like to give this one a carrot sometime soon.

There are a few cows too, but they are not as predictable and stationary as the animals mentioned above. A newborn calf appeared down the street (the 15th Cross in Malleshwaram) the other morning – awwwwww.

The other creature in the picture is a dead kitten. I saw in at the side of the street one night, though I had been warned about it and didn't want to see it, but glimpsed over at the wrong moment. The power was out so I went out to investigate the sound of haphazard drumming, which turned out to be street parade with an elaborate float of Ganesh. This was the day I saw the kitten. It is gone now.

Bangalore

I just moved to Bangalore, today, to teach at the Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology. There is a little porch off of my room, currently used to store buckets and hang laundry, which I might like to turn into a studio. So, I'll still be available for shows and the like, but shipping might take a bit longer.
